After a few weeks building a base, my 16 week marathon training schedule started on the Monday before Christmas – great timing! At least I got some new kit for Christmas and a bit of time on my hands. There was no running on Christmas day, but other than that the Lake District made for an inspiring place and encouraged me to get on the road – despite the rain. I was supposed to run in the annual Wansfell Fell Race, in Ambleside, but it was postponed due to bad weather.
Week 1 asked for 19 miles over the week. I got off to a good start by completing about 22 miles.
