Here is a little bit of information as to why I have chosen to support my chosen charities.
During 2013 I was reminded just how much the majority of us rely on the gift of sight and how much many of us take it for granted. I was lucky enough to undergo laser eye surgery which gave me 20/20 vision and the whole experience hit home just how delicate the eye is and what it means to be able to see clearly. For some, even corrective surgery is not an option and the luxury of even reasonable eye sight is not available. For these people, receiving a Guide Dog can really be a life changing event meaning that they can enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
75% of all money raised via this fundraising page will go to the Guide Dogs charity, which not only breeds, trains and distributes guide dogs to blind and partially sighted people, but also campaigns for the rights of people with visual impairment & educates the public about eye care and fund eye disease research
Those who remember last year’s Bike Coast 2 Coast event will know that myself and several others raised a sum of money for this charity which is very dear to my family. This year I wanted to continue this support in order to keep in mind those who have been and continue to be affected by this illness.
25% of the sum raised through this page will go to Myeloma UK.
I would urge anybody reading this to add their name to the organ donation register
